Here are five things you should know about the new leader of CAC.
In 2017, Prophet Samuel Kayode Abiara stepped down as the General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).
This was in accordance with the church’s constitution which demands that leaders retire once they turn 75.
Once he resigned, Prophet Abiara was succeeded by Prophet Hezekiah Oluboye Oladeji.
Here is what you need to know about this new C.A.C leader.
The cleric was born into a Baptist family that lived in Edun Abon, Ile Ife in Osun state.
Despite being Christians, his father reportedly performed rituals and dabbled in traditional religion.
From Baptist to C.A.C
Prophet Hezekiah’s entry to C.A.C began in 1980 after the death of his mother.
According to CACCannanland, he had a coming-to-Jesus moment at Oshogbo bus park, when he heard people singing a song about Jesus.
In his words, “I left home for Osogbo in 1984 and that was the day I met Jesus. As I was alighting from a bus at the park, I heard people singing Jesu npe o ore maabo, asan ladun aye ohun gbogbo a dopin (meaning Jesus is calling you friend, come, this world is vanity everything will soon end).
“It was this song that fascinated me to inquire about where it was coming from and discovered that it was a church, which coincidentally, the people who came to pick me attended. That was how I joined the CAC at Araromi in Osogbo.”
God calls Prophet Hezekiah
Like any good Man of God, the C.A.C leader was called. It happened in the early hours of the morning while he was in church. We will let him describe the moment.
“One night, I was the only one in the church at about 2 a.m when I saw God. He came with Apostle Babalola and told me that they wanted to send me on an errand to the church body and to the world and asked if I would do the work.
“I said ‘yes’ and He (God) told me that I would be called a prophet, after which he instructed Apostle Babalola to anoint me with oil which he did and when it was morning, I saw the oil physically on my head and for about five or six days it was on me. Even till now, when I pray seriously, the oil will come out on my head,” he said.
The prophet’s first miracle came after many unsuccessful efforts to enroll in a seminary. He later got into one after failing in 1991 and 1992.
The seminary turned out to be a bad idea for him as he felt unfulfilled probably because “God said He had trained me from heaven.”
He managed to stay until he got his certificate which he abandoned to start a transport business which was where he got to perform his first miracle.
In his words, “In 1996, one of my vehicles had an accident and two people died. I took them to a hospital where they were confirmed dead and they said we should take them to the mortuary. I wept bitterly and God asked me if I was ready for the assignment given to me and I said ‘I was’.
“He (God) asked me to enter and touch the corpses and when I did, they regained consciousness. This was a confirmation of my call. Then, I gave out all my vehicles and began a new life in Christ, I became more committed and dedicated to his work. So, CAC Canaan Land began exactly in the year 2000.”
Becoming C.A.C leader
In September, 2017, he was appointed as the new General Evangelist of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide. Prior to the announcement, Oladeji was an evangelist at CAC Canaanland.
Confirming the news, his predecessor, prophet Abiara told Punch, “I was even one of those who announced him as the new General Superintendent. So, I’m happy.”
Reacting to the news, the President of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, Pastor (Dr.) Abraham Akinosun described Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji as a suitable replacement.
In his words, “We thank God for the happy retirement of Prophet S.K Abiara as the General Evangelist of CAC Worldwide. We also thank God for finding a suitable replacement in Prophet Hezekiah.
“We thank God for giving us a man after his own heart and everyone has started to feel the presence of God in his life.”
He said this while delivering his speech on Friday, February 24, 2018, at the grand finale of the yearly All Nations Holy Pilgrimage to Odo Owa.
The new General Evangelist resumed officially on January 1, 2018, at the annual All Nations’ Holy Pilgrimage to Odo Owa programme.
CAC News reports that the duty commencement service for the new General Evangelist will hold at Ikeji-Arakeji Osun state on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
